One of these days I hope to be producing regular images from my own telescope again but the weather and other considerations aren't making that goal any easier. In the meantime here's another one from Arizona (Ha because of the moon). This is NGC 2174 in northern Orion and is sometimes known as the monkey head nebula for fairly obvious reasons.
Well you weren't monkeying around on this image Steve - looks great.
I've had some clear nights out here at Wallaroo but without an observatory to provide some protection, several of them have been too windy to even bother ...btw, you will be interested in this, I will be erecting Joe Elso's 2.3m dome on my property soon . Although he was strictly visual, I hope the work I do from it will never the less make him suitable happy about who ended up with his beloved Sirius Observatory

Thanks Mike. I didn't even know Joe's dome was still around! I know Les Kinsley inherited the C14 and I assumed the dome too. Anyway, you are correct - Joe would certainly be happy it's getting good use even though he didn't do photography. The only thing is that it was a bit cramped inside or are you doing the same as before - putting the dome on top of a larger building?

I am with you as far as putting it on a building ie. as I had at Googong until Aug 06 but as we are only tenants, until we have our own place it will just be as he had it setup, which will be a far cry from THIS as far as exposure to wind and the elements goes...

Thanks again Mike. Your current site is definitely extremely exposed! Actually a picture of the monkey head is quite appropriate for me as Dean's setup is so easy to use that I think a reasonably intelligent monkey could manage it. Very little skill required on my part.
