3 from last night

Horsehead nebula, Orion and Centaurus A.

Horsehead Nebula - IC434
Total of 41min @ ISO800 using the canon 1100D modded with the saxon ED100

Orion Nebula - M42
Had another go at orion this time without the moon glow
Total of 34min @ ISO800 using the canon 1100D modded with the saxon ED100

Centaurus A - NGC 5128
Total of 12min @ ISO800 using the canon 1100D modded with the saxon ED100

I had heaps more for the horsehead but when out to check and phd guiding stopped working so lost about 20min of data.
Didn't know about the dust bunnies untill I started processing them.
All taken with the Saxon ED100 with the Modded canon 1100D, stacked in DSS then processed in CS5.

I thought I could MAYBE get a try tonight, but alas, not to be. Had the Vixen R200SS for over a week now and seen no light apart from aligning it!

I am going stir crazy!!!!!!!!!!

Never tried Centaurus A since winter. Must try again...

Some nice shots there - especially M42, it has that natural look and you really get a sense of how bright the core is.

Great job Paula!

Are you happy with your Canon EOS 1100D? I am thinking of getting one myself.

Cheers,

Eric

Thanks Eric, for the price of the camera i'm not complaining. Hubby modded it for me for astro work. I've got 2 1100D 1 modded and 1 not.

Thanks Paula. I wonder whether there is a significant difference between the 1100D and the 600D for astro purposes.

Cheers,

Eric

Eric, there is review on the 1100D and 600D by Gary Honis for astro imaging
600D Review can be found here http://ghonis2.ho8.com/T3iReview/T3iReview.html
1100D review can be found here http://ghonis2.ho8.com/T3review/T3review.html

I would like to try a 650D apparently it has way less noise.

Excellent work Paula. Horse Head looks natural, it is not a bright object and I like the more subtle view you have acheived. And first time I've seen Centaurus A well done.
I think you've convinced me to go 650D. I've been tossing up to upgrade finally and the lower noise capability might be the clincher. There are some not bad twin lens deals going on over here. I will investigate.

Thanks Brent, yeah the 650D looks like it would do the job well.

I quite like your Orion image and Centaurus is always a lovely and interesting subject. Very nice Paula!!

For those dust bunny buggers, flats will help but go and get yourself one of those camera hand pumps that blow air onto the sensor. That should get rid of the bigger buggers at least.

Cheers,
Darrin...
