Great image Zac, huge image scale. Do you resample 1.5x in registax?

I think it'd look sharper if it wasn't so big, but that's just my preference.

A very very nice image. Can you elaborate on the capture and processing techniques you use?

What telescope/camera do you use?

Very nice image Zac - I was out last night too and although at times it looked promising, the seeing never quite delivered the goods!

Once i found out you were our 12" planetary guy, I was hanging out for the next post and here it is YAY!

Lotsa detail there, just let down by the conditions.

plenty of detail and colour looks good, and like Mike perhaps smaller will sharpen and reduce grain.

Hi Zac, great image... heaps of detail and sharp even at this image scale. Impressive . I was imaging earlier on and the seeing was all over the place. Packed it in around 10.30am... this must have been an hour or so later?

It's not exactly my first image. Others are on my webpage. Start time on this image was 23h 31h 13s AEST, May 13, 2006, but I had already been imaging for about an hour.

I have a 12 inch mirror made by Mark Suchting. I use a ToUcam and eyepiece projection with a homemade adaptor for a Nagler eyepiece to give f/28. 2 minute avis, stacked using Registax. I resample, always, by 2X. Unfortunately my mirror is badly in need of recoating. My last years images are vastly superior, but I haven't had good seeing for a while. I am close to finishing a 20" on a german equatorial and so haven't had much time to image compared to last year.

What is your 12" driven on now? What type of mount?

Do you actively cool your mirror at all? The 20" sounds like it will be a monster. What plans do you have for cooling it to bring it to ambient?

Do you use eyepiece projection purely for image scale, or do you see any other benefits to it?
