Eyepiece suggestions.

Hi all.

I recently have bought a second hand 127mm x 1200mm achromat.
It has come with a 12.5mm eyepiece that just has a K on it which i think stands for Kellner and also a 25mm plossl.
Finally got to do a little observing last night thanks to change in the weather and was amazed at the view I got of Jupiter with the cheap eyepieces, it has got me excited to see what I can see with a decent planetary piece.
I have bought a 2.5x Bintel barlow which should arrive soon which when combined will take my magnification to 240x which will begin to push my scope to its limit.
Anyway, after suggestions for planetary eyepieces people might recommend for my setup.
I am thinking a 6mm which will give 200x.
Also, can a decent 15mm with a barlow attached compete with a straight 6mm piece. Just trying to get the most use out of a budget.
At most im thinking $100 for a single eyepiece.
I could be pushed to $200 for a recommended set, but can't imagine spending that much on a single piece at the moment.

Thanks, Kris.

Nice scope Kris , you wont do anything wrong buying any of todays eyepieces that fall into your budget , your scope with its longish focal length will be very forgiving of any problems in the eyepieces you are looking at , Bintel , Andrews and all other suppliers will help , just Google .
any chance of a photo of your scope ? I have a 127mm I am building at the moment using an Istar 127mm f/8 lense thats on its way ,, .
Brian.

I just found your thread " help in inentifying this scope " its a beauty and a great price , good score .
It looks to me a Meade style lense cell and dew shield holder , as well as the focuser , but its longish f/9.4 is ( was ) not a Meade focal length in this size ?? I am sure Meade 127mm achro's were f/8.4ish?
Its probably an Antaries out of Canada as said , if so it will be a great scope optically .
Oh yes the mount is a good match as well . ( not Meade ! )
Brian.

Hi Kris
For $99 the Long Pern planetary eyepieces at Andrews Communications are really nice. These are the same as Orion planetarys and LER eyepieces. Also the same as William Optics planetarys that cost a bit more. That or plossls on a budget can't go wrong with GSO's and the 2.5 Barlow. Yes a 15mm plossl with a barlow is much easier than looking through a 6mm plossl, and the view would be the same IMO.
Matt
