opening FITS.

Hi,

I shot some frames with ccdsoft and saved them as a FITS file, I tried to open that saved work in PS CS 6 but said its the wrong type of document and couldnt open it. OK, so i resaved it as TIFF file, still didnt work, even though i have opened many TIFF files in photoshop from my canon camera after converting them from a RAW image. Anyone know whats happening?

thanks
Josh

Not sure what's going wrong with your TIF conversion. If you're saving the FIT as TIF in CCDSoft then anything could happen, as I find CCDSoft's handling of file types not the best.

I'd recommend getting a plugin for photoshop. Google "photoshop fits plugin" and you'll find links to the ESO option and to Eddie Trimarchi's, plus a bunch of other info to assist.

By the way, the latest version of FITS Liberator is standalone and doesn't require photoshop.

Thanks for your help guys. I noted that if i save the FITS file in ccdsoft in the 48 bit TIFF option, i can open it in PS but PS wont open it if its not saved as a 48 bit.
