Camera recommendations

Hi all, can anyone give me some suggestions for a decent dslr camera and appropriate lens for astrophotography? my budget is $400 no more. I have an 8" dobsonian manual tracking.
Cheers

I've seen new Canon 1100D with lens kit for $400 when on special. That would get you started.

I am to starting my venture into astrophotography. I am been using a 1000D. I would like now to upgrade was thinking of a 60Da but now might get a 60D and see if I can get some assistance converting it over therefore buying two 60Ds one for astro and the other for my photo hobby. Any assistance please or should I just get the 60Da and be done with it and only use for astro work?

The 60DA will work for both astro and daylight/normal photography.

The 60DA is only about 1000 over his limit,

the 1000 or 1100 canon, or you could get an older Nikon d90 maybe, do you want it for daytime photography as well? You could get a secondhand ccd like a dmk if you don't need it for daytime & stack the moon images

Keep an eye on ebay!!!
I just bought a Canon 50D in excellent condition, with charger, cables, 8Gig card and original boxes for $300 and have ordered a Baader Astro Conversion Filter $110 for it.
Instead of the filter you should be able to get a lens for not much more.

With new camera models coming out soon you should get a good deal on an older model

The D1100 has many of the features of the 60D for half the cost. Save up for a decent lens. The kit lenses are OK for general use but you will tire of them quickly. A Canon F1.8 50mm is just over 100 bucks

A 2nd hand canon is great as there is good software support.

A pentax with a good sensor can also be had cheap, and you have the option of the GPS unit that lets you do widefield without a mount, very cool.

Wow great buy 50D at that price, I guess it is the luck of the draw and who wants to bid at the time.

I have the 20D & 350D (which I love) but would love to update it to a 50D or something like that.

Great Work
