Jup from the 27th

Gday, couple of pics of Jupiter from Thursday night. Conditions where pretty good , cool to cold with little wind .Last few times ive been out Ive tried for a more saturated coloured look with the ToUcam but I kept getting the STZ to overexposed. So I went back to having the brightness level to 50-60%, gama 20%, 5fps and experimented with the shutter and gain levels .Shame the GRS wasnt on the the side imaged but happy with progress

Excellent! I've been waiting for someone to post a post GRS transit Jupe from the 27th. Seeing was just superb here and I was looking at the planet a bit later in the night than when your shot was taken. Some of the storm activity at the bottom of the top main belt looked very intriguing. Interestingly it looked more regular (periodic) than in your images. Maybe some of that stuff is still on the other side of the planet.

I love the Z-spot you've got in the first 2, on the border of the NEB.

After reading some of the information in the other threads about splitting AVIs using AVIRAW thought I would give it a go with the AVI used on the images above. Results like promising , thanks to Mike and Dave for info shared

Good start Stuart.. Try using 1 or the other (LR/ME) rather than both, and you may keep a more natural looking edge.

You can also use photoshop to do a slight gaussian blur around the edge - use the circle select tool, select just inside the planet, do an inverse, and then a guassian blur.

Hi Stuart

That is an excellent portfolio of Jupiter images - well done; you've got some great detail in the belts with heaps of stuff to look at.

Like you, I found that I got a hot spot in the (thank you) STZ when the image capture histogram in K3CCDTools was hovering around 230. I have since captured around 210 and 220 and this seems to have fixed it, so far.
