Bunyip 12.5 Inaugural Image - NGC6744

I have just finished processing the first image (not counting simple setup / focus testing subs in the final stages of building) with my new scope - a 12.5" Newtonian Astrograph (aka the Bunyip 12.5) .
It took me a while just to remember the little that I knew in Photoshop , and the raw data had a strong green cast that seemed to give me some trouble. I also forgot to set the colour working space for my new Dell U2410 monitor (wide gamut) which confused me for a while .

Birlliant image. Nice tight stars across whole frame. Excellent color balance. Well done. You must be very happy with that.

What do you use for guiding ? The integrated guider with CCD Soft ?

If so be curious to see what guide settings you use in terms of exposure and then min max move settings for this camera scope combo

I've really enjoyed watching you put this monster together.
That's a really nice image and proves you know what you're doing

Thanks Chris, though I didn't get the colour quite as nice as other images I have seen - not enough red in some of the galaxy, but when I tried the stars became too red.
I used the integrated guide chip in the STL11000 in conjunction with CCDSoft / DirectGuide. I believe I set the "Aggressiveness" to 0.8 (from memory) but I don't recall the min / max settings - I'll check for in the next day or so on the notebook attached to the scope.

Thanks James! I'm still learning as I go and have one or two tweaks left to make as well. I'm taking it slowly to get to understand how the scope behaves though ...

Thanks Martin!

Actually, on reflection (and looking at the image in the daytime with unbleary eyes), I think that all the comments are an indication of the quality of the scope; however my processing skills are very rusty from even my prior novice level (too much sharpening, etc and doesn't do it justice), so I have reprocessed the data from scratch and will post a new thread in the next day or so as it is significantly better (thanks to Marc4DarkSkies for some advice here). What's the etiquette on repro's - not too soon is it??

No, not too soon at all David. Mr Sidonio has set the gold standard here. Post the original, then reprocess & post every other day for a month (or more)!

Cheers, Marcus

(luv ya Mike! )

The field looks incredible. You did a terrific DIY job on this one. So many background galaxies in your shot and with very refined structures too. Impressive rig.
