Fourteen
Numbers are funny things, they have an impact on people and various numbers mean certain things to different people and cultures. In China the luckiest number is 8 followed by 6. On the other hand 4 is generally* considered unlucky because the Chinese word for four,si (四)is similar to the word for death (死).
However my favourite number is 14. It has been my favourate number for as long as I can remember but 14 is an interesting number. Fourteen is the sum of the first three squares; 1^2+2^2+3^2=14. Also, in Roman numerals 14 is the first number that uses three seperate characters; XIV.
I also like 6 and for some reason I always associate that number with the colour green.
*Four can sometimes be seen as lucky in China as it represents four seasons and sometimes the character for four is used in Chinese names.

Ah it's all black and white to me, but 13 as you will see in my forum name and it's my birthday, also most people find it a negative number where I find it a very postive one.

When ever I have had the inclination to actually make the effort to select numbers for lotto, I have stacked the ticket heavily in favour of of those which contain fours and avoided 1 to 31 (people pick birthdays - days & months) and I never, ever pick 7, 8, 13 or 14.
i know it wont make any difference to my chance of winning but on the off chance that I do, there will be less people with the same numbers.
As for my favourite number... 5040 & 7920 would have to be up there.
Please someone tell me they understand why...?

I like your theory - but include 8 - I believe it is the number that comes up the most!

When I select lotto numbers I always select two perfect squares and one perfect cube.
BTW, I have never won more than a few dollars on the lotto but then again I don't play it very much.

By no means exhaustive, but for those that didn't know
This is an introduction to an extraordinary number:
