Helix - a start

I managed a few hours on the Helix before the moon rose on Tuesday evening.

This is very much a work in progress -it is only 6x5mins R, G and B and 10x5 mins L taken with QSI 583 on RC8.

I had intended to take more data last night but the enormous westerly wind we had all day yesterday must have filled the atmosphere with dust as the sky was very soupy. Perhaps it will clear by the weekend.

I've still got my training wheels on with PI. The hardest step for me is getting the clour balance right. I had to mask everything but the stars to adjust the colour - in the centre I had an aqua tinge to the stars that was hard to process out.

I also have some Ha to add but its a bit more tricky to do this with PI. I'll try and add some when I get some more L and RGB.

Comments - as always- are welcome

Pete

Looking good. More data will make it better. You'vre already picked up that little galaxy in the lower lobe.
