Hello all,
I hear a lot of positive feedback on the ES 100 eyepieces, but i don't hear much on the 82's. What is the performance on them like?
To be more specific, the focal length's i'm interested in are the 24, 14 and 8.8. To be more specific on performance, I mean edge correctness and contrast mainly.

IME the 82s compare favourably to Naglers - at the price.
I have the 6.7 and 14mm and am very pleased with them.
However the edge shapness is noticably inferior to the Naglers as is the contrast.
They are my "Ooo I'll have a quick look at that" EPs rather tha my all-round faves.
On-axis performance is very good indeed and I find their colour correction to be the equal of Naglers in longer fl (f8+) scopes.
In my f6 80mm, however they show a little CA and lack the sharpness of the equivalent Naglers.
This is just my experience with my scopes (f15 Mak, 130mmf8 APO and 80mm f6 Apo) .
If money is a consideration, they are splendid EPs and well worth the investment.
What scope are you intending to use them in? I use my 82* and 68* series in my 6" f8 refractor which I often stop down to be a 4" f12 and the 82* are pretty sharp nearly all the way to the edge, its the value for money that is hard to go past.
Any of the ES 82deg eyepieces will work well with your 12" dob. One reservation however: have heard that the ES 82deg 14mm suffers from a little field curvature, so maybe if I were you it might be one to miss. Should you buy into these oculars, you wont be disappointed. Excellent performers. Very good price, (while the sale is on).
The 18mm and 4.7mm reputedly have tighter eye relief than the others and there are reports of some reflections in the 4.7 and 8.8.
I have the 30, 11 and 6.7 and the only complaint I can make is relatively short eye relief on the 11 & 6.7 (similar to type 6 Naglers). The 30mm is an excellent eyepiece in all respects, with on axis contast and sharpness similar to a 31mm Nagler and good edge performance in fast scopes. The 24mm gets very good reports.
I directly compared a 40mm ES with a 41mm Panoptic - on axis was identical with the Panoptic having better correction in the outer field.
