Just a happy snap of the moon last night and dawn yesterday morning

took these handheld with the 50-500 lens on the pentax yesterday.I did alright with the moon handheld resting on the fence at full zoom, something I wont try again. Gee the moon is very low to the north isn't it, just an observation.

Great images there Dave, really like the moon one too.
We noticed the same thing with the kids last night about the moon's setting position.
Amazing.

isnt it amazing what a difference 3 months makes, the moon was directly overhead, now its at some low angle to the north

Nice shots mate! You've done well to hold the camera steady at 500mm zoom.
Is that a bit of dust on your sensor slightly down and left from the centre?

Don't forget...we are in the year of a major lunar standstill.

Great shots Houghy and I too like the Moon image and it makes it more impressive to realise it was hand held!

Please fill me in, major lunar standstill?

thanks, it was no mean feat, the only thing I could lean on was the fence, and even then I was all over the shop!
