This galaxy is formally a member of the LGG 472 group of galaxies
, together with the famous Grus Triplet/Quadruplet and a few other galaxies.
The relatively nearby (in the sky) NGC 7410, which was recently imaged by SteveC and shown in the Imaging Forum, is not usually regarded as a bound member of LGG 472 group, due to a ~180 km/s velocity difference from that of the group. However, most of the bright galaxies in Grus belong to a large-scale physical feature, part of a "wall" of galaxies .
