Which 16" dob to buy?

Guang Sheng or Meade Lightbridge or Skywatcher? I've done a little bit of research from here and Cloudy nights, I already have 10" Bintel Dob and am very happy with it but I would like to go bigger, I'm not too concerned with price but if I can be convinced to choose the GS or Meade I will, also will add an Argo Navis as well, the puchase to probably take place this time next year so not in a hurry, have also given thought to building an 18" but don't think I have the skills, have the Kriege and Berry book.
BTW I used to post under the Jupiter sig but i can't remember my password so I created another.

I'd love to know the answer to your question and will be following this thread with high interest. I have vacillated for a long time with the exact question. I'd love to look through a F3.6 22" and would be prepared to wait somewhat longer at the chance at one of these . Is one in the hand worth 2 in the bush?? Cheers Zub

Hi Moonunit,
Iv'e been researching the same thing too...must be going around, and as far as I can tell the Meade and GSO scopes use the same GSO BK7 mirrors whereas Skywatcher use a better quality glass. If thats wrong can someone correct me? Meade 16" mirrors don't get the greatest wrap on CN either, a few people have got them refigured, which would be an expensive exercise from here. Have you looked at Orion scopes? Seems like you get what you pay for, the only other choice is grind your own.

Grinding your own mirror for a beginner is a disaster in waiting!!
It is easier for a novice to bake a cake then to undertake a complex task like this!!
