Certificate.Of.Authenticity

G'Day All,
Can anyone tell me how I can get another certificate of authenticity .
We upgraded to a new computer as our old computer was slower then a 1920 Ford going up a hill.
So we clean up the hard drive on the old computer to use as a backup , all went well ,but for one thing the C.O.A which should have been on the back was no were to be found .
The only info I have on the tower it is a Asus Chassis no model or serial number.

Ian C
P.S If two of these turn up it is because I am having trouble with the internet to-nite

shame you wipe the old drive before knowing, as you could of got the code out of it. Do you still have the manuals and install cds sometimes the code is on the cd covers

The serial number should be on a sticker on the case, unless the builder did not follow M$ instructions and left it on the CD/DVD cover. If you get a "this serial number has already been used" error, M$ can provide a new one for that PC. Tell them you had to reinstall. Mind you that if the O/S is XP M$ might put up a fight.

Of course it would be wrong to use that serial number on the new PC, as you aren't in Europe. The European courts have just ruled that the license purchaser has the right to sell that license to another party providing they remove the software from their hardware or make their copy unusable.

I have a bunch of unused ones for XP home edition, I can just email you one if you want it. I'll never use it!
