Flame at 1/8000th of a second

I shot this with my Nikon D800E.

Its a flame from a woodfire with no available light except the fire itself.

1/8000th of a second, Nikor 24-70mm at 40mm F2.8, ISO6400.

http://www.pbase.com/gregbradley/image/144802786/large regular

http://www.pbase.com/gregbradley/ima...02786/original large

I shoot with this camera comfortably at ISO6400 and it can be pushed to ISO12800 with some care possibly 25600 with some
noise reduction processing. I never use the flash. It turns dim to dark scenes into bright scenes. Amazing.

Greg.

Wonderful detail in that, Greg. Digital camera technology has come a long way.

Thanks Adam. Yes the D800E is by far the most amazing camera I have ever used.

Don't get mesmerised by it!

It is amazing how you can sit and look at a warming fire. They are very entertaining.

Thanks Leon. I was surprised the camera could do that. None of my earlier cameras would come close to having the ability to do that.

It would be cool. I have several shots but not really sequential.

The camera has a built in time lapse function. I could set it up to do one of those next time. Good idea.

I've got some more Nikon rubbish coming up shortly.

I did my first time lapse last night.

Lens was dewed over this morning! I think I'll make a little insulation jacket for it. If that doesn't work (it works on my refractors) then
a dew heater is on the cards.

Greg.
