A Few Birds

After noting the great snaps with the 400L I took the splurge . A long way to go but all my life I've wanted to get close up bird pics. Finally after 30yrs of procrastinating I can see results. Comment and criticism welcomed.

Spotted Pardy is lovely-looks like someone has picked them up and hand painted the white dots on them.400L-such light crisp lens-lots of fun.

Lovely lens isn't it. I've had only a few outings with mine and I'm still a beginner. The only thing I note is that the speeds are pretty slow. I tried to keep exposures <1/500 sec and the best shots are about 1/1000. You seem to haver used autofocus (just as I would) but it has not focussed on the right object. If you used evaluative focussing consider trying spot focussing.

Congratulations on an excellent purchase Derek. I agree with David about the shutter speeds. With practice you will be amazed at what you can achieve.
