Public Astronomy Lecture Bathurst 11th July, 2012

Anyone interested in going to this?

Quote:

Public Lecture: Galileo’s New Universe Of Astronomy- By Professor Timothy Slater
Nearly 400 years ago, Italian scientist Galileo profoundly changed the Western Civilization worldview by pointing the newly invented telescope toward the heavens. His unexpected observations of mysterious moons, deep craters, and countless unknown stars still motivate today’s astronomers to look deeper and deeper into our expanding cosmos. But, what if Galileo were alive today? This entertaining talk suggests topics that Galileo would most want his students to diligently observe and passionately study.
