after 7 weeks o/s good to come home with Jupiter blazing o/head now at midnight and at over 40". Amazing amount of stunning Jove images on this forum so well done!!!
Jupiter images attached taken this morning just after midnight with my 12.5" and NexImage webcam, reduced to 70% of size due to poor seeing (4/10). Approx 400 frames stacked in Registax: wavelets; then AstraImage: ME Deco (7 iterations at 1.7), Alpha Trimmed Mean (3x3), Unsharp Mask, Contrast & Brightness enhanced. 2 Images to look at various degrees of processing.
As well, did the old "snap" of the moon into the 12.5" with a 32mm Plossl, afocally via tripod mounted Canon Powershot 8 camera.
Lastly, I know it's borderline landscape photography, but have attached 3 shots of the full moon rising a few weeks ago over Mt Everest.
hey, more images with detail on a moon of jupiter. congrats!!!
these are fantastic.
you have have tugged at my yearning strings. that mountain sends shivers down my spine. please start a new thread and tell all re this trip and more photos please!!!!
David I am still about a week away from uploading the 300+ shots from my Nepal trip so will PM a link to you inc. a short trip report on another mountaineeing epic this time on a 7000m peak! and well done on the images of Jupiter on the April 11th, superb!!!
Robert, Nepal is still beautiful, all the mountains are amazing, got out one day before the general strike began which then started the riots in Kathmandu!
please indulge me, have you any shots from the top of the world or your 7000m peak. Have you climbed everest. A simple yes will make sure we are not off topic and i promise to wait for the detail...............anxiously.
We were on Mt Pumori (7145m) next to Everest. We got to 6,900 meters on summit day and a few hours from the summit, so lots of photos from there, were able to look over into Tibet, but a couple of people then took a fall and we spent 3 days getting them down. No Mt Everest (yet)! - Sorry moderators, I know this is off topic!
Awesome shots John, they look terrific at the shrunk down size, but at full res there's some horrible jpeg compression evident.
You should resize your shots to 800x600 (or there abouts) BEFORE saving as compressed jpeg, as you'll get them forum guidelines with minimal compression then. At the resolution you've uploaded them at, they are horribly compressed to get under the forum guidelines.
They look fantastic all the same, and I'm looking forward to a new thread in the photography forum with writeup and more pics of your Nepal trip!
Yes John please please place a post and images from your trip , this wannabe Himalaya trekker/armchair climber would love to look at them Top images to and what a backdrop for a lunar shot
