PMX - counterweight question

I had some fun trialling my OTAs on the new PMX.

I have struck an interesting issue - My Tak FSQ sits on a long Losmandy style mounting plate. Because the QSI that hangs off the back is quite heavy, I have used a counterweight attached to the underside of the mountin plate out the front of the scope.

The Versaplate (a great name that one) on the PMX is quite long - too long for me as the scope mounting plate isn't long enough to poke out the end.

Slide up the scope I hear you suggest? With the trusty Robofocus, there isn't enough room to do so.

Ideally, I'd hang a counterweight off the end of the versaplate.

Has anyone had this experience and have some suggestions?

Pete

PS still love the scarlet beast - but have yet to use it in anger. Maybe tomorrow when the pesky clouds scoot off

I have mounting rings that lift my FSQ off the losmandy plate by about 2 - 3 inches. This is enough for robofocus to clear the mounting plate and slide the whole ota forward.

I have my C-14 attached to the Versaplate with an Andy Homeyer scope cradle. I have an ADM DUP7 dovetail attached to the front of the scope cradle and hang a sliding counterweight assembly off that.

Would it perhaps be possible for you to attach a DUP7 or DUP15 to the upper or lower front of your Versaplate?

I ended up witH a similar solution. I picked up a sort dovetail plate, added it to the front of the versa plate and have a counterweight hanging off that. It balances nicely.

Thanks for the tips

Pete

Here's a picture - it seems to work well

Pity about the colour - now if they had a scarlet plate...
