Mmmmm... I'd be interested is this. A relatively cheap upgrade, by the sound of it. But how do you change the tube assembly? Do you have to send the PST back to them, you reckon?

And coming from Denkmeier, I wonder if you can use you binoviewers??

Thanks for pointing it out, Narayan. I'll stay posted.

Cheers,
Brian.

Add the cost of the upgrade to the sale value of the pst and you're close to the cost of a Lunt 60, which is a better instrument than the upgraded pst IMHO. The Lunt 60 has a larger etalon and a crayford focuser.

Think you can do it yourself

Merlin66 - a member of this forum- has done I think similar conversions off his own bat and the results seem outstanding

I was referring to the used value of an already owned pst. A primary virtue of the pst is it's portability; if you're going to spend money to make it bigger why not sell it and get the Lunt 60 instead. That's just my personal preference though.

Sheesh, is this thread really that old? I'm resurrecting it now just to see if anyone here has gone down this route, whether it is easy to do/arrange from here in Oz, and what the results are like.

Brian.
