Rapid Transfer of internet provider (NOT)

I don't have internet at home at the moment, in the middle of provider change and they've left me with a five day gap with no service.

That's what they call a Rapid Transfer

Tel*tra had a better deal on offer for the same money as I was paying with TpeeG so I said lets do it.
They said we'll do a Rapid Transfer as soon as TpeeG drops their codes we'll connect the new service.
I said great.
Notified TpeeG to cancel they said three to five days to codes drop.
I said OK and notified Tel*tra.
Five days later my internet dropped of from TpeeG but the codes are still on line
I rang them and they said it will be another five days before they are dropped. I said "Ahh isn't that ten days then"
The reply was "It's standard practice"

Tel*tra can't connect until the codes are dropped by TpeeG

I can still connect using my iPhone as a hot spot for a short period and that's ok though no emails until the new account is up and running.

Anyone else had similar problems????

I could use a few choice words here but it would be a breech of TOS.
I'm sorry you have to go through this. Thank goodness you can hook the phone up to the lappy.

Thanks JJJ,

Yeh it's a bummer as so much we do now relies on us being online.
On the positive side, my ever loving other half said and I quote
"You might get something done over the weekend now"
I just love that lady cause she's usually right.

Well better go and knock off, been a hard night at work.

Not quite the same thing but related... I'm with Gotalk (now Club telco) and my internet drops out anywhere between 1-5 times a day, often only minutes seperate each dropout. Some days I have no issues, but most of the time, I'll get atleast a couple of drop outs a day

And the pricks charge a $50 fee to be a member of their "club". Screw their poxy club. Atleast downloads run at up to 300kb/s which is important for flight simulator which sure as hell beats the 50kb/s I had with Craptus (which had even worse dropouts).

Telstra & TPG stuffed us around a couple of years ago.

Most of it was prompted by the movement to a single bill where an account number was changed. TPG then stopped our internet because of the changed account number. Then phone lines got disconnected and reconnected to a second line in our house.

All in all, we were without phone & internet for 6 weeks. I made a big stink about it all to Telstra & TPG. Wound up with a reasonable amount of compensation as my wife couldn't work (she logs into work remotely).

IMHO, complaining to the Ombudsmen might make you feel better, and you at least get a better point of contact in Telstra, but it doesn't make anything happen any faster.

Phone companies don't like being disturbed. If you don't change anything with your accounts, it seems to run along happily for years. Fiddle with it at your peril!

Hope you're back on line soon.

DT

We had the same issues up here when telstra started bringing the new 4G on line , weeks of no service and when it came on in patches it was over loaded and would crawl along and die 1/2 way thru doing any thing , I rang telstra and got the same run around as you ,,, "Its stardard practice " and all the time I was paying for a service I was not getting .
Frustration city !!!! .
I am still waiting for a credit on lost time due to their " work ? " , that was 5 months ago , now ......
The problem is , is that we up here in the NT have no options , as both Vodafone and Optus are very , very slow up here in the NT .
I feel your frustration .
Brian.

Sounds like my little problem is nothing compared to others but I guess I shouldn't talk too soon, at least not until I get connected again.

I did have help from the ombudsman when Telstra tried to charge me for a new mobile phone I'd bought online but it didn't arrive, they had sent it to WA somewhere only thing is I live in Vic.

The real silly part was the replacement phone also went west. Eventually arrived.
