Eta C , NGC 6188 area and milky way 50mm

Some more pics with the 5DH camera
Eta C and NGC 6188 area, both taken with 6 inch f3.6 cometracker and parracor coma corrector, the Baader MPCC isnt designed for fast Schmidt Newts, rather for classical Newtonians down to F4, it works perfectly with my 10 inch f5.6, worked with some edge abberation with my 350D on the 6 inch SN but the full size sensor was too much. Even the parracor doesnt get rid of all abberation but the 6 inch is a "cheap n nasty" scope. Larger versions here. Eta C
NGC 6188

both pics 4x10 mins ISO400, ambient temp around 9 degs, rather windy and very poor seeing.

Afterwards I shot the milky way with 50mm f1.8 lens stopped down to f5. 3x10 mins iso400.
Larger version here

Is that the Meade Cometracker? I have the Celestron Cometcatcher version, which inspired my username.

Your aberrations are very minimal and only at the extreme corners. The parracor is working well.

Thanks all.
yep it is the Meade Cometracker. Digital imaging never existed when it was built, and its makers could not imagine how hard digital imaging would puch such inexpensive optics. A mate when travelling in the US bought one for himself and I, about $300 USD each brand new. The only major issue I have with it is the corrector plate isnt IR coated, just uncoated green plate glass, the primary is only plate glass too, and mark Sutching one looked through it at an old Mt kaputar astrocamp and said it was a little over corrected. It isnt too bad and shows pretty good vision at high magnification.

Yep it would be good under a dark sky, when I take my mum to Gloucester to visit relos might have to swing it on a new moon and take the rig with me, my aunt's backyard is very dark.

Very nice views Scott. I use to own the Celestron comparison (Comet catcher) f3.65 5.5" but gave it away to a friend. Your Meade comet tracker performs very well considering the cost they were produced for.
All the best.
