DSLR image, Rho Ophuichus at 55mm.

Hi,
Here's another wide field, Rho Oph.
This is one of those area's that I find difficult to process, this is my best attemt so far, out of six.
When imaging I tried a ten minute exposure at ISO 800 and a five minute at 1600, in both there was too much fogging of the background. So I stuck to my tried and true five minute ISO 800.
There's still a bit of noise in this image so it needs some more data.
Telescope 8” f/4 astrograph on a HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Unmodded Canon 1100D piggy backed 55mm at f/5.6
7 x300 sec subs ISO 800,
24 dark frames, 9 flat frames and 11 bias.
Stacked in DSS and post process in Phototshop.
Cheers,
Justin.

Thats an awesome field Justin, Dig the composition, colours and dust lanes Recently I did it at 70mm, thought was wide enough but your 55 has given me major 2nd thoughts, the general Perspective works much better i feel , , Top stuff & nice job !

Beautiful!

I'm working on this right now. Using the Canon Nifty 50.
It can be a tricky one to process. You've done well.

Looking good Justin. I've always had problems towards the bottom where colour control becomes difficult.

Darrin...

Yes, so many different colours to balance, takes ages!

Cheers,

Justin.
