The Southern Cross.

Thought it was time to give Crux a go, after all I am from down under.

I'm quite happy with this image for a stock lens and there's so many star colours to play around with.

Telescope 8” f/4 astrograph on a HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Unmodded Canon 1100D piggy backed 55mm at f/5.6
7 x300 sec subs ISO 800,
24 dark frames, 9 flat frames and 11 bias.
Stacked in DSS and post process in Phototshop.
Cheers,

Justin.

Hi,

Here's a version with a bit more processing.

Might have pushed it a little too far, what do you think?

Cheers,

Justin.

That's very nice Justin. I would pull back magentas in Photoshop using selective colour as there is a touch there from chromatic aberration of the lens. Otherwise its really nice as is.

I like your first rendition best. Maybe a bit too much smoothing happening though and it's eaten a lot of your fainter stars.
