Wow – what a dramatic view. Nice work Peter, glad you were able to make the trip out west to provide us with this fabulous and somewhat esoteric shot of our solar power house, along with the lovely goddess Venus. I was expecting something good from you and this shot has exceeded those expectations!

Cheers

Dennis

Breathtaking! Congrats, Peter.

I notice you have a slight halo around Venus, too, like pretty much of the other images I've seen (including mine). This makes me think that it isn't just an imaging or processing artefact but that there is actually some flaring going on around Venus' atmosphere?

Cheers
Steffen.

I would expect to see 'ringing' because of the sudden luminance change between the edge of Venus and the brightness of the Sun in the background. I'd put it down to processing or cameras struggling to cope with the edge luma change.

Thanks Dennis, looked long and hard at the forecast, and finally chose Wagga Wagga. Easy drive down the Hume. The hard bit was packing all the gear. (attached pic)

Yes ... well the table and chair could perhaps be a little more compact.

Ah thought you might come back with something from your trip west. Should make for interesting results in a week or two I would think. Like seeing CaK images.
