100mm Ha Transit

Thought you may like these pics. First a quick collage summing up the day and secondly Venus through a Lunt 100mm Ha Scope with a 1.6extender in a 5x Powermate. Overkill for sure but its good to push the limits to see whats there.

Wow stunning detail

I am curious as to what effect makes the planet edge appear to 'glow'.. because in the first frame you cant see its edge beyond the solar disk

Jay it appears to be artifacts from processing.

But a lovely set of images, Derek. Nice work!

The edge glow seems to be related also to the camera. The pics in the first collage at the bottom left are single frame snapshots with the occulting function turned on. Basically you get Positive limb structure and a negative disc but with that glow . I can blacken out the disc but figure its good to see what comes out.And like Mike says post processing increases this.

Excellent Derek, nice details at high mag. I saw that rim glow on my images as well. not sure if it is an artifact or not.
