7 inch scope - JUPITER 15april Good Seeing

Gave the Mewlon 180 a spin Saturday night (it was getting jealous). Some nice seeing around 7-8/10. This combo works well with the 2.5powermate, but with the 4x (F48) is just over-stretching the light gatherig capability of the scope. Still not a bad result. The open mewlon cools down in an hour flat and seems less affected by seeing etc compared with the C9.25 so has it's advantages though will never quite match the resolution of the C9.25.

Anyway, two of the better shots below.

cheers,

Nice work Rob! Nothing wrong with those at all!

What will you do with the mewlon now that you have the 925?

Reckon I'll hang on to it Mike - you've got to love Tak quality. It's actually got an edge on the C9.25 for when the seeings not the best or I've only got a short window to get the scope cooled. Visually I reckon it's as good as the C9.25 and is excellent for double star splitting etc. It's also a lot more portable. I can carry the Mewlon setup on the LXD75 around the yard easily so it's a lot more flexible in getting the best horizon at the tight time than the 9.25 on my pier mounted eq5.

cheers,
