Partial Lunar Eclipse 04 June 2012

What time should we be out looking? I figure Mike has the answer on the tip of his tongue but I can only find a forum about the past eclipses. I am a novice at this site, so sorry if the info is easy to find and I've missed it. Kate

On the 4th June, there's a partial lunar eclipse in a great position to view and photograph for Australians and New Zealanders, as it will be visible high in the sky during the evening.
It's not an overly deep eclipse but still work checking out.
Lunar Eclipses are completely safe to observe without any special equipment or filters.
Here's the article with all the info you need to see it and photograph it.

Hi Kate

the eclipse starts about 8.15 pm - 10.30 ish, with the best part around 9ish. Pop outside for a look from 8,30 maybe and see how it goes.

www.stellarium.org is a great piece of free astronomical software, pop in your coordinates, then run the mouse down left side to alter the time and date for Monday at 9pm, zoom in on the Moon to see what it will look like.

Image is for townsville at 8.45 ... thereabouts (from Stellarium)
