Jupiter April 22 - Getting better

Just come in from imaging.

Seeing has dropped away but prior to that managed to capture a handful of half decent avi's.

Humidity tonight was around 95% so it was a struggle running the dew heaters and not suffering thermal disturbance, but still stoked with what we got.

This suggests our collimation is pretty much close to spot-on. Could certainly benefit from a precision motor focuser.

There's detail in the GRS, and nice white ovals present in this shot.

Just a quick and dirty run through Registax. No post processing. Gonna have fun tomorrow processing the rest.

Excellent Matt! It's all coming together on this one. A bit of LR deconvolution in Astra Image or usnahrp masking etc might help bring out some finer detail, but this is definitely "a keeper"

great stuff

Thanks guys. I'm really grateful for your positive comments and the encouragement is always welcome. I'm thrilled that there was some improvement and that's the main thing for me at the moment, even if the image quality still has some way to go. I'm just focusing on making those little 1% steps forward. The image suffered a far bit from poor seeing and super-high humidity. That's OK. I'll just keep getting out there in the hope I'll get one of those 8.5-9/10 nights of great seeing one of these days real soon. I'm just really happy I'm imaging, and quietly fine tuning my skills for when that crackerjack night arrives!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, Rob, got some advice/tips/suggestions on the Astra Image processing? I'm a bit hopeless after Registax. Come to think of it, I'm not too flash in Regi either (LOL)

Yep. Looking nice Bird. Let's hope the wind buggers off and the seeing snaps dead still!!!
