M102 (ngc 5866)

Can't say that this is a very exciting image but it does have a certain amount of historical interest being one of the possible candidates for M102, a galaxy in Messier's catalogue that has never been unambiguously identified. It is also one of the few reasonable deep sky objects in Draco, apparently a remarkably boring constellation.

Looks lots better than my brief effort shot through trees with a DSLR a few years ago

Thanks Mike. I was thinking the same thing myself. R Jay Gabany has done a lot of work on tidal tails too. Perhaps I'll return to M102 when the moon goes away.
