Getting Ready for Venus

Hi all,
Well like most I guess I'm waiting with baited breath for the Venus Transit but also like a lot I don't have a solar scope so the Baader Filter to the rescue.

A little work with the band and jig saws with a couple of bits of MDF, a bit of flat black, a couple of screws add some sticky back foam and bingo one Solar Filter for the ED80.

Turned out pretty good I think quite happy with the little bit of handy work .

Think I'll do an off center for the 8" SCT as well so we can view through one and image with the other.
Haven't done any solar before so got to get this going and have a bit of practice with it

Thanks Paula,
Yeh I thought it came up pretty good, hope to try it out tomorrow.
I like your $10 pick up by the way, that was one lucky spot.

Hi Ken,

I'm new to this site & really like the project section. That's a nice spot of fabrication ! I need a bigger shed so I can fit a band saw in

Hope you catch the transit !

Clear skies,

Dave
