Colour balance question

Hi all! I have a Canon EOS 5d (unmodded) that I am keen to start using for astrophotography. It has several possible settings for white balance - daylight, neon light, tungsten light etc. Is there any particular setting that is best for astrophotography? For example, if I set it to neon light, would the warmth the camera imposes make up for loss at the red end of the spectrum? Any and all help much appreciated!

Dont bother with JPG images, The Raw images converted to 8B or 16B tiff are far better and white balance is irrelevant!

Thanks Bert! I didn't know the white balance settings didn't have any effect on camera raw files

Hi Don

I have an umodded 350D and always shoot astro in RAW format, as Bert say's, no need to worry about White Balance.

Raw is the image as taken by the sensor, no adjustments have been made in camera at that stage, sharpening, contrast and colour balance are all applied after the raw stage. If you're using Photoshop you'll need the raw plugin.
