Communications equipment maintenance RAN 1985-95
When I worked for the dockyard in the latter years of my employment I was called on to do many investigations and write reports etc.
Before I retired I collected all my work on computer discs to keep as a record. This material was written in Wordstar and Multimate and I had a lot of trouble reading it without the original programs. However reading some of the posts in this forum prompted me to do some converting on the programs to make them readily readable.
I loaded my old copies of Wordstar and Multimate from the floppy disks. Yes they still worked and were compatible with XP. However the formatting was for old printers that I nolonger have drivers for. I got around this by running the prorgrams and printing to an ASCII file.
I now have all the files and reports readable in MSword. They make some very interesting reading on how we did things in those days.
I have attached one of my old reports to give you an idea of some of the tasks i was assigned.
