350D amp off mod

G'day everyone,

I'm planning on doing some upgrades on my 350D cooling and I thought that while I had the camera apart I should see if I could do anything about the amp glow, it's quite annoying and doesn't seem to get properly removed with the darks.

So I was wondering if anyone has done this before? I'm not great with electronics but am happy to give it a go, if you have any info or advice that would be great

So far the only info I've found is in this thread on SGL,

Cheers
Jo

I haven't started mine yet but i have the case ready, it is a similar unit to the link shown. I like these cases because the heat-sink doesn't transfer the heat back into the case.

Apart from that, I don't know how the Amp Glow is affected, this could be something to do with the camera, but keeping the camera cool along with the sensor could be an improvement.

From what I understand, amp glow is caused by electrical interference from the signal amplifier located on the side of the sensor, to get rid of it, the amplifier needs to be turned off during the exposure and then turned back on when the exposure is finished. I'm pretty sure all the cameras after the 350D have this built in already so they don't have any amp glow problems.

It doesn't look too hard to do so I think I'll start collecting what I need and will give it a go.

Cheers
