April 21 Sun

I managed to capture these just before the clouds closed this morning. Had to wrestle with the puter a bit... all seemed to settle down after the 3rd reboot....

Al these are great especially the discs and the others considering the aperture for the Ha closeups.Good granulation in the WL pics had a go myself but couldn't quite get it.

Excellent work Al with some lovely detail in the solar granulation and light bridges. I managed to squeeze off an AVI on Sat too although haven’t had time to process it yet.

A fabulous series – you must have been quite busy at the ‘scope as well as at the computer!

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks Derek and Dennis.

It does keep me a bit busy. About an hour or so of captures and several hours of processing. (Good excuse to sit down in front of the tele late in the arvo).

Great captures Al.
I still can't believe you get this result with SM40.
I've seen much worse with SM60.
Congratulations.

Thanks Arek. I've been impressed with my SM40 ever since I stuck it on the front of my ED80. I think it really does struggle with the 2.5x powermate in the train, so a bigger filter would be good. I'd love an LS75... shame Lunt stopped making them.

These are amazing, you make me want to go out and buy a narrowband filter.. but my pockets aren't that deep

Nice work Al. Finally sunspot numbers are up again. It has been since early or late last year that numbers have been this high.

I would be nice to see these sort of numbers during the Venus transit.

Yeah, they aren't cheap. I'd like a bigger one myself.

Its looking good ATM. Here's hoping it keeps it up for the transit. It would be more interesting.

Thanks guys.
