Could i have a computer problem

Having trouble working out where the problem is;
running on my computer at same time is:
Canon DSLR via USB port
Orion starshoot and PHD guiding via USB port
Moonlite focuser software via USB port
Nebulosity 2.5
also on computer is oes utility (not connected whist using Nebulosity) and Canon zoom Browser engaed to view raws at download.
I am getting corrupted images ocassionaly, and software with unexpexted error windows appearing. I have all new leads.
Problems only started after i downloaded the moonlite software however this is a very small file.
Computer is about 6 years old
Pentium(R) 4CPU 2.80GHz
2.79GHz, 1.5GB RAM

Am i asking too much from my computer power pack?

Maybe your HD is telling you something. Run a quick chkdsk or other utility.

Doing ok if it's 6 years old, although expect trouble soon. Mine crashed only last night after nearly 7 years of constant use. Annoying but understandable.

You can run chkdsk /f from the command line on any volume not in use.
If it is the volume in use answer Y to the question on run it at next start up.

Time for a new PC, or at least a cheap mechanical hard drive:

Then reload XP. That CPU isn't too bad, and 1.5gb is enough. We still run heaps of these old P4 IBM machines with around 512-1.5GB ram at work, but the hard drives are starting to go on some.

So say you get a new disc drive, it might last another year- then the power supply will die, they have rated hours and at 7+ years of high use you are getting close to the end.

So then you spend another 40 on a power supply and still have a slow PC.

But if you don't want to spend heaps of money on a new PC but want something newer/faster/more reliable, just have a look on ebay:

Yeah those Dell business desktops are good value for 100 bucks. Dual core processor is plenty of power for most people, and Dell are a very reliable brand. Good luck!
