South Celestial Pole Time Lapse

Here's a time lapse from my Gold Coast backyard shooting towards the South Celestial Pole and then towards Orion. The last image is a stack of all SCP images to produce star trails. Surprised I could see the LMC from a light polluted backyard. Shot these images back in February, finally done something with them. This is the first star time lapse I have attempted, has inspired me to get out to a dark sky site to produce a longer series.

Nikon D700 and 17-35 f2.8
260 - 20sec exposures @ f4.5
Assembled with Sony Vegas
1280x720p @ 30fps, slowed down to 0.650

Any comments welcome

Very nice I am going to have to have a serious look at getting Sony Vegas when I start making videos of my images. This is the second video I have seen recently that has used it to good effect.. I love that panning/zooming action.

Thanks for the comments gents.

Greg,...yeah, Sony Vegas is a pretty powerful program for a very reasonable price, worth the purchase for sure. The version I have is,...wait for it....."Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 Production Suite"....it's a mouthful.

Cheers,
Paul
