Photoshop v Photoshop Elements v Corel Paintshop Pro

Is anyone able to advise what Photoshop can do for final image processing that Elements and Corel cannot.

At present I have extemely limited experience with processing. I possess a copy of Elements but really only use it as a library and to touch up very old family photos.

Am reluctant to pay for CS5 if Elements or Corel have the same tools and the same principles can be applied with the final processing of astro images.

Thanks

Mark

Photoshop elements only has very basic processing compared to the full photoshop but you need to learn how to use the advanced features.

For processing Astro images there are better programs some are even free. I saw a couple of demos at the astroimaging group meeting last night

I find that PSPV4 does 90%+ of the image processing that PS does.
Most of the PS tutorials can be "translated" to suit PSP.
(Even "Noel's Actions" are being considered as a re-issue for PSP)

Have you also considered Gimp? Open source but packed with plenty of good stuff.
