Rigel-Saiph 200mm f2.8

Hi all, this FOV is centred on the position that comet Lovejoy was at last night, although not visible. It was inbetween Rigel and Saiph. This is 15x4 minute exposures taken with 5D MK II at ISO 2000 ICNR on and 70-200mm f2.8 at 200mm. The 5D does a good job at recording the faint nebula that is in this region.

I am about to spectrum modify a 5D MKII and match it up with my trusty 200mm f/2.8 prime. At ISO 2000 it sort of makes sense to use ICNR. I guess the rationale is that the low noise characteristics of the MKII, coupled with the high ISO makes it possible to take fewer subs.

I like the way the MKII picks out the detail along with the full frame FOV.

Hi Rowland, yes it would make a good modded camera. If I was going that way I would get Central DS in Korea to do it with peltier cooling as well. But I have 2 modded cameras now and wanted a standard good quality camera.

All the best.

I have never really looked closely at this area of the sky before. I'm happily surprised.
This is an excellent photo Lester. Thank you.
