A fairly good Mars set (feel free to try processing)

Here is another zipped AVI, this time of Mars, posted in the
FTP uploads section (approx 52 Mb zipped).
One of the better captures from March 19th.

Attached below is the best I can get from it and the Registax V5.1
routine described pasted on the picture. Mostly Sheeny's method again.

If you're bored or it is raining, like it is here!!!!, feel free to have a
go processing.

Thanks for posting up the avi Steve. Here's a go using Registax 5.1, 947 frames, RGB align, Astra Image with Lucy Richardson Deconvolution PSF Size 10.00, Wing Adjustment 3.08, 10 Iterations (Aggressive), then Unsharp Mask in PS with Levels (eye dropper on the pole to correct white balance) and resampled up a bit. You got some nice detail in your capture

Also added a WinJUPOS animation of your image.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Steve, no worries. I got alot of my info on WinJUPOS here:
http://www.astronominsk.org/Other/Ar...Mars_globe.htm

Now, I can speak any language apart from Greek, but unfortunately it's in Russian, which I can't speak because it's all Greek to me so here it is translated: http://translate.google.com/translat...be.htm&act=url )

It's well worth giving the program a go!

Steve,

I've had a go at your data too. Would have been nice to have about 3 times as many frames.

Stacked 600 frames with AS!2, then touched up with Gimp. The result is not strictly a scientific image as I fiddled with the curves and colour in a non-uniform way, but I think reasonably representative in terms of albedo features. What do you think?
