Wide field Omega

Hi to all

This is just a wide field image of Omega Centauri with the FSQ106. I still have flexure problems but they seem to be getting smaller. This one turned out reasonably well and if you look carefully to the upper right of the cluster you can see some of the flux nebula that is in this region although it really needs a longer exposure to come out properly.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Peter. Didn't even know you had a FSQ.

Thanks Marcus. I'm not there yet but I think the main flexure comes from the camera angle adjuster so I'm making that as tight as possible. There are some set screws on the focuser that perhaps could be tightened but I don't want to touch them unless I know what I'm doing. I'm surprised you're having trouble with the 8300 as I thought that was quite a light camera.

Top shot Steve that is an awesome FOV and the colour is spot on (although I'm detecting a slight green tinge on my monitor) and you've picked up some faint fuzzies as well

Very nice Steve.

Tilt is only on bottom left corner. Is that flex or is that your CCD is not square?

The first thing to check with flex on FSQs is to tighten the 2 focuser tightening screws under the focus block. There are numerous threads about this on the Tak Uncensored Yahoo Group.

Greg.

Thanks Greg. I still think it's flex but I need to check a few things and unfortunately it's clouded over again.

Yes, seems to be a good scope

Thanks Trevor. I had a bad green gradient which I thought I got rid of but maybe I didn't get it all.

Cool widefield Steve. Trying to do that this week-end with a 100mm lens. I should be able to include Cent A. How dim is that flux nebula?

Thanks Marc. It's quite dim but with a fast lens and dark sky you should be in business.

Lovelly image Steve. I really like the wide'ish field presented here as there are indeed quite a few faint fuzzies there which I think help with the presentation of O.C.

Darrin...

Thanks Darrin. I've played around with the image some more to bring out the flux nebula if you wish to have another look.
