First crack at M101

Here's the first of the colour images from Dean Salman's observatory. There won't be anything more for a few days because it's apparently raining in Arizona. The image is M101, always one of my favourite galaxies. Nothing to get too excited about as the exposure is fairly short but this is more pro0f of concept really.

Incidentally I noticed a thread about the QSI 583 WSG camera. That's the camera used here.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Ross. The colour is probably a little off actually.

Yeah I was going to say the galaxy looked a little magenta to me. Good detail though.

Thanks Colin. A longer exposure would no doubt have improved it but this was intended to be more a proof of concept than a prize winning image.

Cheers

Great first image. It shows everything is working well. Colour needs to have more blue in it but lack of exposure isn't helping there.

That must be fun remote imaging northern objects. My northern favourite is M63. I'd love to do a really deep image of that one.

Greg.

Thanks Greg. Yes M63 is a nice one but my favourite is M82. I'm planning to set that up right now.

Actually I changed my mind and decided on M63 after all. Collecting data right now.
