JJJ not well

Hi folks. Speaking with Jeanette by phone this morning, she has given me permission to post this message. Jeanette was in hospital yesterday after she collapsed into unconsciousness on Thursday evening whilst standing at her telescope imaging Mars. She was taken to the local hospital by ambulance (after showing the ambo drivers Saturn and Mars.... dedicated public outreach, huh!) and is still undergoing testing. With a measured heart rate as low as 30 bpm overnight she's still not out of the woods. I have just spoken with her (8:45am) and she's OK this morning, but will be staying in hospital for a while longer obviously. She tells me that the diagnosis to date indicates the possible need for a PaceMaker.

I, like everyone here, have an enourmous amount of time and respect for Nettie and will hope that she comes through like the trooper we know she is. She's running out of juice on her iPhone, but will be allowed to go home for some supplies today including her laptop. Hopefully she'll be online later today to chat to you all. Despite the problem, happy birthday Nettie.

XXX

Get well Jeanette. Hang in there girl, we're all thinking of you.

Thanks for posting Chris.

Thank you for the news Chris, it must have been quite difficult for you, writing about Jeanette’s health problem.

To Jeanette, it is great news that you seem to be stable and have met the initial challenge with your usual courage and determination. You are in our thoughts and we wish you a speedy recovery.

It will certainly be a memorable birthday Jeanette, and we wish you a very happy birthday and hope you can find the energy and emotional space to enjoy it.

With all our love and best wishes

Dennis & Narelle

That's part of her problem Al, the scope was left in situ, set up in the back yard - along with a running power supply that is uncovered. She managed to throw a cover over the scope, but it is out in the middle of the yard and she isn't home. She appeared more worried about it than herself. We had a laugh about it, she is nevertheless concerned for its safety.

Yeah, its understandable. I've been a motorcyclist all my life, and every time someone comes off a bike and gets hurt, one of the first questions they ask is "how's my bike?" - it doesn't matter how badly hurt they are...

We get very attached to these bits of gear that let us do what we like to do (and the fact that they are expensive doesn't help). I hope she can pack it up when she's at home today. She'll feel better knowing it safe I'm sure!

Al.

Oooh jjj, sorry to hear about all this, and on your birthday!!

Hope that heart rate picks up a bit ... perhaps those good looking doctors at Kilcoy can raise it for you.

Wonder if its its one of your medications thats done it, otherwise ... hello Mr Pacemaker ..... a quick and easy procedure these days.

Take care, oh, and ya lucky they are letting you out of hospital to get a couple of things!!!
