More standard candles...
While I did manage to grab just a few minutes of SII and OIII data on the same night as the Riccardi-Honders H-alpha image I posted earlier...I was thinking 10 minutes on each channel would be woefully inadequate.....
...decided to process a NB image anyway, and was pleasantly surprised at the result. SII data is decidedly lacking, and it's noisy...but "moving forward" springs to mind 
An hour or two should be quite impressive, but for now I'll take the crumbs that the cloud-gods have on offer

Very nice.
I guess you'll have to get used to the rapidity of data collection from that 12 inch F3.8 beauty. It racks up the data very fast eh? Very handy for recent Sydney weather.

Another stunning image.
It's almost impossible to believe that such detail could
come from just 3 x 10 minute images.
I love the wide field.
Eta Carinae was made for your scope!

Very impressive Peter.
At this rate you'll have the whole sky covered in about 12 hours of imaging - so when you want to offload the then redundant scope

Wow, ridiculously short times especially for a NB filtered image...
And what a beautiful image.... so smooth and would compare to some images where hours have been spent.
Love seeing NB images of this well trodden object.

Thanks Steve. Yes I suspect with tenuous nebulosity it should be able to grab some pretty faint stuff with extended exposures.

30 minutes is all I had available.. My usual combination of work committments and clouds makes imagaing in Sydney a PIA of late...might need to retire and move West!

It puts about 4x as much light down the pipe as my AP155 at about the same focal length...so I guess I should not have been so surprised.
I've got a few days off now...but looks like mother nature isn't going to co-operate again!

Wonderful stuff. I realise it's very subjective, but this image gives a remarkable impression of the dark dust lanes overlying so much of the neb, when normally the feeling is of neb sitting on top of black background.
Therefore an image that changes the way I now look at Eta I guess, and from so little data.

Thanks Rob. Eta is indeed very 3 dimensional, lots of dark and bright nebulae hint at its 3D structure.

Well, maybe not that smooth, but not too shabby. The sentiment is appreciated.
Cost?... while certainly not cheap, it's pretty good compared to similar systems

Wonderful image Peter, who said an all sky mosiac was out of the question for that combo? I reckon a few nights in summer for half the sky and another few nights in winter for the other half would just about get the capture done. Then all you have to do is process it, easy really   .
