Planeteries on the menu

G,day all,

I had a brilliant night under the stars last night. Two objects stood out for me, both planetery nebulae; NGC 3195 in Chamaeleon and NGC 3132 in Vela.

With my 300mm Dob both object showed tantilising detail. But I was really impressed with NGC 3132. Plenty of detail is visable and that was with out my OIII filter and I was under suburban skies. I have enclosed a Hubble pic of NGC 3132 and some of the internal structure in the image is visable thru my Dob.

Check it out

3132 has always been my favourite

Planetaries are good targets for us people in suburbia as you can mitigate the light polution with higher magnifications and use of filters

I used a magnification of x129 for NGC 3132.

Another object I viewed last night was the Globular NGC 3201, talk about easy to resolve.

Must have been the night for it last night. Astroron took us on a bit of a tour with his 16" and OIII filter. Spirograph, Rosette, NGC2438 and one other I can't remember . And I tracked down the Blue Planetary and the Eskimo earlier on.

Great fun.
