Processing After stacking problems.

Hi All.

I managed to get about 50 minutes of reasonable subs (between clouds) of the horse in orion.
I am having a problem, the single subs have plenty of color, but after i stack them in Deep sky stacker, the color seems to disappear.
I know the data must still be there, but I can't coax any of it out.
I am using light room 3
Can anyone point me to a tutorial or give me a newbies tip on finding that colour.
See a single sub here of 4 minutes. Converted to Jpeg for upload here.I was in a rush and didn't have time to polar align properly and i think it left too much work for the auto guider as some drift is evident.

Any tips would be great.

Thanx

Andy

I'm not familiar with Lightroom at all. In CS3 I mainly use Curves to brighten/stretch the image. Using it multiple times, starting with quite large adjustments, finishing off with micro adjustments. Once the image is satisfactory, then I use Saturation to enhance the colour.

Hi Andy,
This is a great video tutorial on how to do image processing http://youtu.be/BBQQ_Gs6YHM You will develop your own techniques as time goes on but this should get you started.
Hope it helps.

In Recommended Settings there's a link - Per Channel Background Calibration. There's a note relating to images that are too grey.

Thanx mate, im leraning...slowly.. Its great fun......Next time the clouds disappear ill spend more time driftalligning and PEC train my Heq5 to try and get pinpoint stars. The orion pic below is 1 sub of 4 minutes, through my GSO 8" newt. The Horsehead is a stack of about 42 minutes worth of subs through my WOZS 80 mm refractor.

Cheers

nice captures there Starcrazy. I too have been trying my hand at processing and till just now after reading this post and a few others, i think i have taken a great step forward ( although im not too sure what i did ) i will keep these settings. I like the images from your setup, im thinking i may eventually go with something similar like you have

thats good to hear Steve. Ive been practicing on all the subs i have and i think i have the very basics down now. I have to admit, the refractor is much easier to handle and get reasonable images then the newt, so i plan to stick with it for the time being, and get some of the brighter neb's before I go back to the newt for the faint fuzzy's. I eventually hope to get some nice galaxies.

cheers
