When will it stop.

I'm starting to get a case of cabin fever from all this rain. It started on the 21st Jan and I've pumped over 100mm out of the pool every 2 days since then. I thought it was looking pretty good today, the sun was out, got the wet grass cut and even got 20minutes of PEC data earlier tonight through a sucker hole. It was hot enough to let the water evaporate from the pool instead of pumping it, or so I thought. Bugger me if it hasn't just started raining again.

Give us a break ....

I saw a strange light the other night in between the mass of clouds. I did some investigation on the web and it turns out it was called a "Star". Amazing!

Seriously, Monday night was fairly clear here in Brisbane and I could have done some imaging if I hadn't been at a "Meet the teachers" night at my son's new high school! At the end of the evening I was walking down the hill back to the car staring straight up, looking at Orion, and I could have sworn that I felt a tear well up in my eye!! (Probably it was some residual rain...). How cruel is this hobby!

Cheers,
Mario

Guess what! It's raining moderately here while I have my cornflakes. I saw a hint of the Moon the other night, but it vanished. Patience grasshopper. If it was 10/10 seeing and 10/10 transparency every night, what would you have to look forward to after several days except a good night's sleep. The good times will come back.

It can rain as much as it likes as far as I'm concerned.
I'm not allowed to life a sausage, so I couldn't set up if it was clear.

I'm sure it will clear up for full moon guys.

It's not as bad here as further north but it has been cool and wet here all 'summer'. We had some OK weather on Australia Day and over the weekend, though it rained most nights. Monday got over 30* for only about the second time this summer. Yesterday was cooler with some rain and today it's cool and raining steadily. The powdery mildew has killed the zucchinis and is moving to the cucumbers, the tomatoes are taking forever to ripen but the lettuce and silver beet are happy. The lawn's a swamp.

I think the La Nina pattern is predicted to weaken during autumn so we may get some observing in over winter. The thing I'm really hoping is that the wet breaks before November so we have a fighting chance of seeing the eclipse. A 3000km drive to look at early-morning cloud is not what what I want.

Yeah Mark, we need the rain over here, at least, long enough to put some water in our dams.

Haven't had a clear day or night here this year! (Well might've had some sun during the day while I was at work, but that doesn't count).

Dismal astronomy weather...

Last night and the night before I had some of the best seeing I have ever imaged under, just 25 km South of Brissy. I got 80 galaxy images in on Monday before cloud around 10pm (which later cleared) and around 100 images in last night until it clouded around midnight Jet stream well South of us. Look for those breaks.

When it will stop?
When Niribu ( or what they call it) will leave our solar system
Start building the Ark and make sure that you got pairs of male and female telescopes!
On other hand I'm still waiting for replacement of Orion Starhoot G3 camera,
it makes it easier to wait , knowing I could not use it anyhow, even if I had it.

Karl,
We will need that "ARK" up here on the mid north coast at taree.
Rivers broken it's banks this morning and roads cut today and tonight because of high tide and tons of water coming down from gloucester area..
Everything is backing up.
My telescope and I are ok, being 30 metres above sea level.
But who knows.
Had to pick up my wife Sue from work early today because of the rising waters.
GLUB GLUB!!!
