Happy 20-12, my final shoot of Lovejoy

Happy New Year!

This morning was an amazing for many reasons. Talk about a contradiction, it was so cloudy at Surfers Paradise at midnight, I almost thought why bother driving to Murwillumbah, that's crazy. But like most of you, I assume, you just can't say no!!! To my amazement got there & whilst there was a heap of cloud cover, it seemed someone upstairs was looking after me & had swept away the clouds over Lovejoy .

The second awesome thing to happen was at 3.50am(nsw time) saw a metorite that would have been 1cm thick streak across nearby Lovejoy. Unfortunately I was shooting vertical at the time so it didn't capture in my photo.

Finally saw what I can only describe as a UFO. It wasn't a satellite, this light would stop, then start repeatedly in a straight line. Then as if it knew it had my attention it started moving left & right. But what left me gobsmacked was after watching this for 150m, it all of a sudden switched off & totally disappeared near the crux. Amazeballs! Has anyone else had similar sightings like this?

Finally my pics, I decided I'd make this my last shoot, need to return to some sort of normality with the body clock.

Nice captures; I like your foregrounds too. Yep, I think I saw the meteor you're talking about. There were quite a few last night.

I thought I saw a UFO too last night, but it turned out to be two very bright satellites (one of them may have been the ISS?) moving at a trajectory that was giving me optical illusions. I've also seen what honestly looked like stationary and turning UFOs, but after I pointed the scope at it I could see that it was just a helicopter hovering very high
