Tarantula Nebula

Hi All,

Attached is my attempt at the Tarantula nebula last night. The globular cluster to the left is NGC 2100.

Overall, I think it came out well. The tarantula has an interesting colour - a very cool looking blue.

There are also other star clusters / globular clusters in the picture including star cluster R136 in the central nebula and NGC 2092 which is the small cluster near NGC 2100.

Object: Tarantula Nebula (NGC 2070) / Globular Cluster NGC 2100
DateTime: 30/12/2011 10:30PM
Location: Sydney
Telescope: Meade LX90
Mount: Standard Alt/Az
Camera: Canon EOS 550d
Exposures: 8 @ 30 sec
ISO: 3200
Processing Software: DSS / Paint.NET

Cheers,
Mark

Well done

If your camera was modded (had the IR filter removed) you'd see more of the red which is in the neb

Mind you, the "ice blue" look is pretty cool as well

To me, it has a ghostly look to it which I like. There is potential in your image there Mark.

Nicely done!
